Welcome to KidJar! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the KidJar application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by SIRIS APPS ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using KidJar, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. Please read them carefully before using the Service.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using KidJar, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any additional guidelines or rules posted on the Service. If you are using KidJar on behalf of a family, you represent that you have the authority to accept these Terms on behalf of all family members.
KidJar is intended for use by families. Parents or legal guardians ("Parents") must create and manage accounts. Children may only use the app under parental supervision and with verifiable parental consent, in accordance with COPPA and applicable child privacy regulations.
You must be at least 18 years of age to create a parent account on KidJar. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
2. Description of Service
KidJar is a family-oriented application that helps parents teach children responsibility, financial literacy, and self-discipline through:
- Creating and assigning age-appropriate chores to children
- Tracking chore completion and awarding points (stars)
- Setting up custom rewards that children can redeem with earned points
- Piggy bank feature for children to save points toward goals
- Point request system for children to earn points through self-initiated learning and growth
- Family dashboard for tracking progress and celebrating achievements
- Push notifications for chore reminders, completions, and point requests
KidJar is provided free of charge. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but core functionality will always remain free for all families.
3. User Accounts
Parent Account Creation
- You must be at least 18 years old to create a parent account
- You must provide a valid email address for account verification
- You must provide accurate and complete information
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
- You must not share your account credentials with others
- You are responsible for all activities under your account
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
Child Profiles
- Only parents/guardians can create and manage child profiles
- Children access the app through secure numeric login codes set by parents
- Parents are responsible for their children's use of the app
- Child data is managed entirely by the parent account
- Children cannot access features outside their family unit
- Parents must provide verifiable consent before creating child profiles
Authentication
KidJar uses passwordless authentication via one-time passcodes (OTP) sent to your registered email address. Children authenticate using parent-defined numeric codes. You are responsible for keeping your email account and child login codes secure.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use KidJar only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Use KidJar for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose
- Upload inappropriate, offensive, obscene, or harmful content
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Service or its infrastructure
- Use automated systems, bots, or scrapers to access the Service without permission
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- Use KidJar to harm, exploit, or endanger children in any way
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
- Use KidJar for commercial purposes without our written consent
- Transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without prior notice.
5. Children's Privacy and Safety
KidJar is designed for use by families with children. We take children's safety seriously and comply with COPPA, GDPR, DPDPA, and other applicable child protection laws.
- Parents must provide verifiable consent before any child data is collected
- Children cannot create accounts independently
- We collect minimal data about children (name/nickname, age range, avatar)
- No advertising, profiling, or behavioural tracking of children
- No social features, messaging, or external content for children
- Parents can review, export, or delete their child's data at any time
- Parents can withdraw consent and request deletion of child data

6. Content and Intellectual Property
Your Content
You retain ownership of content you upload to KidJar (chore descriptions, photos, etc.). By uploading content, you grant KidJar a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and your family. This license terminates when you delete the content or your account.
Our Content and Trademarks
The KidJar name, logo, design, features, and all related content are the property of SIRIS APPS and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission.
Feedback
If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas about KidJar, you grant us the right to use that feedback without restriction or compensation to you.
7. Virtual Points and Rewards
KidJar features a virtual points (stars) system for educational and motivational purposes:
- Points have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash, cryptocurrency, or real-world goods outside the family unit
- Points are managed entirely within the family — parents set point values and define rewards
- The piggy bank feature is for educational savings simulation only
- We are not a financial institution and do not provide financial services
- Points may be reset or adjusted by parents at any time
- Points are non-transferable between families
8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SIRIS APPS, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $100 NZD if no payment was made).
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SIRIS APPS from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.
9. Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using KidJar, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.
Key privacy commitments include:
- COPPA, GDPR, DPDPA, and Privacy Act compliance
- Minimal data collection
- No advertising or profiling of children
- Full data export and deletion capabilities
- Verifiable parental consent before collecting child data
10. Account Termination
Termination by You
You may delete your account at any time through the app settings (Dashboard → Settings → Delete Account) or by contacting us at media@sirisapps.com. Upon deletion, all your data and associated child data will be permanently removed.
Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if required by law. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before termination unless immediate action is needed to protect the safety of users (especially children).
Effect of Termination
- Your right to use the Service ceases immediately
- All data associated with your account will be deleted per our retention policy
- Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and intellectual property rights)
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes:
- We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- We will notify you via email and/or in-app notification
- For changes affecting children's data, we will request renewed consent
- Continued use of KidJar after changes constitutes acceptance
If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.
12. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of New Zealand.
Before initiating any formal dispute resolution, you agree to contact us at media@sirisapps.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
13. General Provisions
- Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SIRIS APPS regarding the Service
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect
- Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision
- Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights without restriction
- Force Majeure: We will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform resulting from events beyond our reasonable control

Agreement
By using KidJar, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you are a parent or guardian, you also confirm that you have the authority to consent on behalf of your children.
